Gymnocalycium anisitsii
4th June 2016
A small species that grows over a wide area in western Brazil, Bolivia and Paraguay. It grows in dry lands under the shade of low shrubs,
mostly at low elevations. Quite variable across its range, there is a measure of taxonomic disgreement about its significance.
I have been trying a few assorted cacti in a new greenhouse and there seem to be a number of Gymnocalycium among them which
I find strange, it wasn't deliberate.
