Habranthus are wonderful things. I sowed the seed in june last year, and the first flower has just opened. This doesn't have the deeper purple throat that it is
supposed to, so the name is open to correction. To be honest, it looks more like a Zephyranthes, but Habranthus can be a bit shag-happy, so it may not have the
parents that it pretends to!
Three years on, and I still haven't confirmed the identity. I have done a bit of research, but it turns out I'm not the only one who is a bit confused!
Whatever it turns out to be, it has been very reliable!
I am more or less convinced that the original plant is a Zephyranthes. I have obtained this second
plant which at least seems to be a Habranthus. It has the dark eye of H.martinezii but the face of the flower should be white
with the pink colour resticted to the reverse.
I think this one might be the real thing.
