Hedera helix
12th April 2012
Ivy grows everywhere in the garden, it is probably the commonest weed here, but it makes excellent evergreen
carpets and it is difficult to object to. Eventually it finds something to climb and sets about it with enthusiasm.
I fight it back from the house walls from time to time (and it needs doing again) and I try to discourage it from
climbing the trees, but I'm not always successful. Unfortunately it took hold in the space behind my
workshop and this is the result. My workshop is now a green blob, and last winter the roof collapsed. It will all
have to come down, and if I wait a few more years that will happen without my help.
