Helonias bullata
2nd April 2009
A North American woodlander. So far it has done well here in a pot in a shade house though
it has a reputation for being a bit touchy.

I would like to say I have been growing it for the last decade but this is a second try. It seems to be one of those strange plants that requires a harsher environment than I can easily offer.
It occurs naturally in permanently saturated ground with a water level just below the surface. It would probably be better among the Sarracenia than it has been in the Alpine House.
I will try to remember that if I have a third try.
