Hedychium ellipticum
25th August 2005
A splendid moderate sized species with large glossy leaves. White spidery flowers are clustered into
shaving brush clusters in late summer. Red ligules and margins to the rolled leaves can make
a striking pattern on the stems of some forms.

I have previously treated this plant as my standard form of H.ellipticum but this year I have noticed it has a slight spotted variegation through the leaf.
It isn't stunningly spectacular, but it is worth keeping the clone distinct.
