A very beautiful compact growing species that has recently become widespread in cultivation as a result
of the importation of large numbers of rhizomes. It occurs at quite high altitudes in India, Bhutan
and Nepal, so it might prove to be hardy, however it is quite late to flower so may be better with
autumn protection. Completely deciduous, so easily stored in a pot over winter. Here, in the poly tunnel,
the slender stems splayed outwards and then collapsed, and had to be tied up to a stick. It may have been
sturdier grown outside in a pot once the weather warmed up.
