The hellebore collection here has become rather too focussed. I have a lot of the acaulescent hybrids but very few of the stem forming
species and hybrids. I decided that this was the year for correcting that deficiency and it is easy enough. The modern hybrids have become very popular
in the garden centres because they have been tissue cultured in bulk - something that has not yet been achieved with
Helleborus x hybridus (but they are on their way).
Helleborus argutifolius was a 'must have' - I have grown it here before but it seems to have gone now, so this is the replacement. Excellent
low mounds of evergreen leaves and winter flowers.
