Hemerocallis 'Midnight Dynamite'

Archive entry 05.07.09

5th July 2009

I was brought up in an era of mud coloured Hemerocallis interspersed with overly vigorous yellows and the arrival of the clean pinks and oranges was a revelation. Recent breeding has produced the most amazing complex patterns and with them as return to muddy colours in the form of these purples. These quite astonishing purples. They are fat and hot and lubricious like a portly banker on a beach holiday, and I feel slightly embarrassed to like them, but there it is.
Raised by Jack B Carpenter in 2002 (and isn't tissue culture wonderful) and as greasy as a fat banker gets.
