Hydrangea macrophylla 'Ayesha'

30th August 2014

A large growing shrub with very distinctive, thick, curled florets. It starts flowering early and continues to produces fresh blooms until frost or low light levels force it into dormancy. An old Japanese variety introduced to the West in the 1950's. It is thought to be a mutation of H. 'Sir Joseph Banks', the first Hydrangea sent from China to Sir Joseph Banks at Kew in 1788.
