Hypericum 'Hidcote'
8th July 2010
I grow a number of shrubby Hypericum and they all have large yellow flowers and brownish peeling stems.
If I ever remember their names they will appear here. I was very careful with labels when I planted them, knowing
that they would confuse me at a later date, and they have.
'Hidcote' is the only one I can identify with confidence. I planted dozens of them, wherever I needed a space filled
and they have performed admirably. Over the years I have pulled a number out and enjoyed the citrus scent
of the damaged stems almost as much as I enjoy the flowers. At Hidcote it is used to fill the bed by the side of the
toilets, and I still can't decide if that is the National Trust making a snooty comment or one of those innane accidents
that occur in large bureaucracies.
