Iberis sempervirens 'Gold Charmer'
8th May 2011
This is a seedling from a gold leaved strain, rather small in this picture and subsequently chewed by a rabbit,
but now fighting back.
I haven't grown the perennial candytuft for decades. When I was a child my mother grew it in the front garden to obscure
a drain. Lather a lowly task for a charming plant, but it lowered itself to the challenge with great poise. This golden leaved form
is unlikely to thrive in my damp garden but I will be happy if it survives for as few years - I have a nostalgic image
in my mind that will smooth over any imperfections.
