A strong growing species, coming up to about four feet, with giant white flowers perched on the top. A fairly short season, but spectacular on its day. Dies back in winter to
a knobbly lump that is part tuber, part stump.

An African species from Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Malawi. In Ethiopica the tuberous roots are used to produce a red dye.

A last fling from the summer befeore winter winds destroyed the top growth the following week.
