Incarvillea mairei 'Pale Pink'
8th May 2011
The species hails from Western China and is usually a rather challenging magenta pink in flower. This form is much paler
and much easier to live with, even allowing for the rather short flowering season. The leaves are a bit coarse
and disappear almost as soon as flowering is over in spring. The plants are often short lived and the carroty roots
don't really appreciate disturbance so it isn't the easiest thing to fit in the garden.
On the plus side, it is easy from seed and when it is good, it is magnificent.
