Iris ensata 'Agripinella'

5th July 2009

A very large flowered form that has been available recently. I have had it for two years. The first summer it sulked, but this year it has bloomed well.
Raised by Straw and registered in 1979. The AIS bulletin for April 1980 says:

AGRIPINELLA. (Felix Straw) 32", double ('Rose Tower x World's Delight'). Beautiful, vibrant, brilliant rose-pink with the purest white radiating from white signals. One branch and terminal, 4 buds. Very vigorous. Fertile both ways and has produced a series of the nearest to true pink Japanese Iris when used with its parents.

My plant is not even close to the original description.
