x Jankaemonda vandedemii
27th March 2011
A wonderful little hybrid between Jankaea heldreichii and Ramonda myconii. I was amazed to be offered a plant
because it is very slow growing and a bit of a problem to propagate. The cross was originally made in 1923 by
Mon. Henri van Dedem in Geneva. A number of more or less identical seedlings were raised and plants in cultivation
today are probably divisions of these original clones.
It is a challenge to grow - I find the Jankaea troublesome and this is slower and fussier, so I am not holding my
breath waiting for flowers. I will be happy if I can keep the rosette in good condition in the first year!
