A tender shrubby plant that I bought as Justicia floribunda from a Plant Heritage sale. It isn't supposed to be very hardy but it has survived so far in a cold greenhouse.
A man made hybrid between J. floribunda from Brazil and J. spicigera from Colombia through to Mexico and some of the Caribbbean islands. In cultivation
the species are widely confused.
Shrubland Nurseries say:
"Tender evergreen shrub with vivid orange-red tubular flowers for a long period in winter.
Grow in loam based compost with added grit and protect from hot sun in summer. Minimum temperature 5 deg C. for winter flowering."
