Lachenalia unifolia
27th March 2011
A species from Namaqualand named for its single leaf. In habitat it is rather dry through
the growing season and the leaf is fairly compact. For me it can get quite long and floppy,
and then is easily damaged which sets the bulb back a bit. Shortly after the first flowers opened
I moved the pot so that the plant could have as much direct sun as possible and as a consequence
sliced the last third from the tip of the leaf. It is not an easy species in cultivation
and I haven't helped the situation.
