Lathyrus japonicus ssp. maritimus
8th June 2013
From time to time I try a new species of Lathyrus in the garden. I don't really expect a lot from them
but it is fun to try them out.
This is a widespread species growing in gravel beaches around the world. The ripe seeds float and survive undamaged
in sea water for long periods so it spreads widely.
It has survived for a year though I think it needs a bit more heat in the summer. Perhaps it will settle in
over time.
