Leucothoe axillaris 'Curly Red'
9th January 2011
All of the Leucothoe are good, and I have a few scattered around the garden that really need a bit more attention
now, but they tolerate dry shade. I have (distant) plans for a new shrub garden and when I get there it will be nice
to give them all a bit more space and sunlight.
In the meantime I bought this one. It is a new(ish) cultivar developed by Ron van Opstal in the Netherlands. It looks good in
a pot and grows into a dense, compact evergreen shrub. It has all the promise anybody could need. I am going to be so disappointed
if it doesn't deliver!
