This vigorous and strongly scented species is the first lily I ever grew. I bought two bulbs from Woolworths and it used up my pocket money for a fortnight. I though it was well worth it,
and I still do. They were planted in a large pot, and left to sprout at the foot of my bed, then moved to the base of a north wall, and finally inside again as they flowered, and rapidly
outside again as the power of their scent made the house almost uninhabitable!
It's a good memory, and if I didn't grow it my life would be much poorer than the absence of flowers might suggest.
In a pot, it reliably turns the june greenhouse into a suffocating scent trap, but I don't care.
