There are a number of small(ish) evergreen Magnolia that I had more or less ignored when they were Michelia but
which have comne to my attention now they are all merged into Magnolia.
Originally introduced from southern China as Michelia yunnanensis, this is said to be one of the hardier species, possibly growing to 15 feet.
At present it is in a pot in the greenhouse.
It seemed a little unstable in the pot when it arrived and I decided to protect it for a while. All being well it will go out next spring.

I should have planted it out immediately. Seven years later it has grown into a large shrub in the Hedychium house. I have now moved it into the garden
but it wasn't happy about the disturbance and it remains to be seen if it will recover.
