Magnolia stellata

a compact shrub from Japan, where it is found only in the mountains north-east of Nagoyo. Quite variable, I have grown a number of forms
over the years in various tubs and containers. I have only just realised that this is the last remaining specimen so I have planted it out in the garden
to give it a chance.

As always, it was planted in haste and has been overgrown rapidly. It will have to be moved.
