Mahonia repens

A low growing species from the Rocky Mountains. I wanted to try it out of a sense of completeness
even though the few I know in gardens are dull little things like M.aquifolium on a bad hair day.

I know of a couple of gardens where the species spreads in a vigorous and generally unimpressive manner so I have been cautious about releasing it into the garden
however last year it went out and looks happier as a result. My plant came from the AGS show in Newport in 2013 and £3 seemed a reasonable price to pay if it
eventually turned out to be a weed - I have paid more for the anticipation of regret.
