This has been tried by a number of alpine plant growers, and is slowly gaining a reputation for hardiness. There is some variation in the wooly spininess of the
species. Some forms are spectacularly white and woolly.

At last I have released it from a pot into the Agave house. It has had some setbacks over the years
and it didn't have as much root as I would like when it was planted out, but I think it will be fine.
