I don't do very well with the blue poppies, or perhaps I mean that the slugs prosper mightily at their expense.
This one produces yellow flowers and spectacular rosettes of foliage that seem to be less palatable.
I have been impressed with this in a friend's garden and it seemed time to try it again here. In a fairly damp position it has grown well
and I assume it will flower next year. It is monocarpic, so I have to collect seed if I want to keep it
but it is spectacular and I will probably make the effort for a few years. There is a slim chance that a few seedlings will
manage to grow without my help and that would be very welcome.

I have adored its leaves, delighted in these soft primrose flowers and watched it drop dead without setting any seed.
I had a moments sadness when I realised it had died but I haven't missed it. Something strange about its perfection.
Part of me didn't want it to go on forever.
