Nelumbo lutea
3rd June 2009
In a fit of enthusiasm for trying all things new, I bought some Lotus seed and they have all germinated
in a greenish tangle of enthusiasm. As they germinated, I realised that I had grown them before as
plants in my fish tank, sold as "miniature water lilies". Now I know why they didn't prosper.
Unfortunately, these seedlings haven't been a lot more fortunate. The problem is getting
summer temperatures high enough for them to romp away.
This is the American Lotus which I had hoped might ne more co-operative, but I don't think it has come through the winter.
