Nerium oleander
14th May 2007
Having seen a really good looking plant growing outside in Falmouth, I have planted this one in the garden, and it seems to have come through its fist winter without damage.
I know that there are some selected hardy varieties in the USA, but this one was just a leftover plant at the retailers (and very cheap!)
6th September 2013
A string of harsh winters killed off the plant, and all thought of trying again.
A mild winter last year, and some space in the Agave house convinced me that it was worth another try
and I have got a few flowers, and an army of red spider mites to deal with. If it continues to be a problem
then the plant will have to take its chances outside.
Once again I have chosen a cultivar not for its hardiness, but for its cheapness.
