A pure white selection of N.sarniensis.
I am not the only one to mistakenly spell the name 'Blanchefleur' on occasion, but 'Blanchfleur' is correct.

White Nerine are different in the sense that the flowering time differs by a few weeks,
the height varies a little and the number of flowers in the head can vary. Some might say that the
individual flowers differ in their shape.
It is probably all true, but a white Nerine is a white Nerine. Every breeder
since Alexander the Great (why would you call anybody great unless they bred Nerine ?)
has named a white cultivar to satisfy their curiosity. I wonder how many have felt the need to
name any more?
If someone raises a plant with a flower the size of a nun's head then it deserves to be named
as long as it has a strong enough neck - nobody needs another nodding nun!
(And if you were still wondering, I write this nonsense when I have spent and hour researching a cultivar
and found nothing of any significance. )

This is an Exbury hybrid between N. 'Mrs H. J.Elwes' and N. 'Caryatid' distributed
by Tony Norris at Nerine Nurseries. He says of it:
"This product of the Exbury cross No.84 (Mrs H. J. Elwes x Caryatid) first flowered with me in 1973.
The flower is purest white without any trace of pink.
The segments are wide and much crisped and twisted in the terminal third.
A very fine even head of 9 to 12 florets."
Writing on the Pacific Bulb Society website Hamish Sloan said:
"White, ... and what a white. Large flowers on a full head, long scape.
Where many sarniensis hybrids have ruffled edges to the petals, this hybrid has ruffles that go
across the outer half of the petal. I do not know if this is general or just my clone.
I find it a distinguishing feature compared to other whites."
