Nerine 'Darius'

8th October 2021

I won't say who I got it from but when it arrived it was alive with mealy-bugs. Fair enough, we all have them, but this was a festering wriggling pile of pestilential white fury. I think I have dealt with them now but I was amazed that it managed to produce a flower in the first year.
Raised by Tony Norris from a self pollination of the cross N. ('Inchmery Elizabeth' x 'Susan'). The Nerine Nurseries catalogue for 1982-3 says:
"A new variety named in 1975. This is an interesting addition to the very small group of lavender flowered Nerines. The 8 to 12 florets have segments just under half an inch wide. Stem 16 inches. "
