Nerine filamentosa 'Tony Glover'
22nd October 2022
I have no idea what this is but I have a plant, it is growing in a pot and the pot has a label. That's not to say I don't know anything about it,
just that the information may not mean anything.
My original N. filamentosa came from Tony Glover a long time ago. It flowered for a couple of years, struggled, died and I thought no more about it.
I had raised two seedlings from it, hybrids with N. sarniensis. I still have them. Checking their background I realised from my pictures that the original plant from Tony Glover
was actually N. macmasteri that had been misidentified. By then it was a dead, I hadn't even seen leaves for a couple of years but I was reluctant to throw the pot out.
Finally I was short of space and tipped the pot into a barrow. There, in the soil, was a bulb. I cherished it. It was unlikely that it was the original N. macmasteri
but I thought it was worth a chance.
This is what came up. It is not N. macmasteri it is more like N. filamentosa or N. humilis but the orange buds and the orange exterior to the base of the tube
are a bit macmasterish. I don't know what it is.
I have a plant growing in a pot with a label. This is it.
