Raised by Clarke at Borde Hill, gained an Award of Merit from the RHS on 12th October 1982 when shown by R. N. Stephenson Clarke.
The citation reads:
"A.M., as a tender flowering bulbous plant for the cool greenhouse, raised by J.R.Vass, exhibited by R. N. Stephenson Clarke, Borde Hill Gardens, Haywards Heath, Sussex.
Each inflorescence exhibited consisted on an erect simple umbel, 12cm across, of about nine flowers held on a strong upright stem 35cm in height. The individual orange
flowers (nearest to Orange-Red Group 33b) were about 5cm in width, 4cm in length.The perianth segments were 4.5cm in length, 1.5cm in width, recurved at the tips with a luminous lustre,
and streaked with a deeper shade of orange. The stamens were the same colour as the perianth segments and protruded beyond the mouth of the flower."
