Nerine 'Lady Cynthia Colville'
3rd November 2012
An early Nerine hybrid that is still available. White flowers, though I have seen internet pictures that show a pink
flush. It is pretty but there is a vague droopiness about it. The scape grows at an angle and as the flowers expand it
slumps lower and lower. The florets cluster in an irregular way - I keep checking them because it looks like there is a caterpiller
in the middle munching on the blooms and sticking them together. No caterpiller just an ugly disposition.
A hybrid between 'Carminata' and 'Joan' raised at Exbury. I like the colour but find the scape unsatisfactory in my conditions.
Tony Norris wrote in his 1976 catalogue:
"One of the top ten Nerines in cultivation with a superlative head of white flowers with a tinge of pink forming a central rib. The stout 16" stem
carrying a head that measures 6 to 7 inches across. The individual petals are just under half an inch wide."
