An old cultivar with deep pink flowers that carry 'not quite being red' to an extreme.
Raised by H. J. Elwes at Colesbourne, received an Award of Merit from the RHS when shown in 1924.
In his catalogue for 1974, Tony Norris said:
"A well known very tough and reliable deep Turkey-red. The stamens stand out magnificently from the well recurved segments".
