Raised by Stanley Smee from a cross between N. sarniensis fothergilli and 'Dunkirk'. In 1981 Tony Norris said:
" This is a mid-season flower, nearly 6 inches across and carried on a stem 16 inches or more. Glowing orange-red. The segments are very long, over 2 inches and are crisped twisted and recurved. A strong vigorous plant.
