Osmunda claytoniana
13th June 2022
There is a gentle but distinct domination exserted by Osmunda ferns on their environment that makes them appealing in this garden.
I have tried to establish O. claytoniana once before but a small plant I acquired in 2005 did not settle in.
This time I have planted it in a pot behind the house where I can water it as required. It will be planted out when it is larger.
The species comes from North America and ius distinctive because the sterile fronds are interrupted by short sections of fertile frond.
