Oxalis enneaphylla
1st May 2016
A low growing species from dry locations in Patagonia and the Falkland Islands. It likes moisture when growing but very good drainage. If the rhizomes are exposed at the surface, they can dessicate rapidly
although they seem to tolerate this, at least for a time.
I ma fascinated by the "civilised" Oxalis but I keep it under control, I don't have the conditions for them. It grows well in a gravel scree, or even a path, over much of the |UK, but Cornwall is just too wet.
Gravel here rapidly becomes a bed of moss which is very lovely but not good for Falkland Island Oxalis.
