Paeonia lithophila

P. lithophila was described by Kotov in 1956 as a new species, based on the shortness of the stems. Later investigation has shown that the stems form a continuum of variation with
and the name is now treated as a synonym.
I had a young plant for a few years but it never grew large enough for me to plant it out with confidence and in about 2020 I found that it had rotted in the pot over winter.
