Passiflora alata

For no reason that I have been able to uncover, in the middle of summer I developed a sudden passion for passion flowers.
Many years age I grew a few, and demonstrated to my own satisfaction that the hardy ones are a bit weedy and the
spectacular ones are a bit tender. Still, things might have changed since then!
This one has been stunning in flower, with good broad leaves. It stayed evergreen in the conservatory
until early spring, and seems to be quite fast starting into growth again.
A Brazilian species which may eventually produce edible fruits.
