I have been growing Persicaria campanulata for a couple of decades, and raising seedlings, and there have been one or two good ones, but they all have invasive tendencies, and have to be controlled ruthlessly.
This is just a seedling, but I like the mix of white and dark purple flowers at the end of the year. I haven't managed to raise a seedling that will perform like this reliably, and I haven't raised anything that is uniformly dark, so there is still a long way still to go.

23rd July 2023 There is a long way to go, and Persicaria campanulata is planning to go there. I am now fighting it in a couple of places in the garden and it has ceased to be funny. I have destroyed all the seedlings I selected, it would be unfair to inflict them on the world. My apologies for 'Ring of Roses' which was distributed to a few people before I lost my innocence. It is a very attractive weed but don't plant it. It doesn't need any help!
