Petrocosmea begoniifolia
12th October 2014
A charming small growing species of Petrocosmea with white flowers. I have tried to grow it a couple of times, but in my experience it isn't hardy enough for my greenhouse.
As I understand the situation, commercial stocks are grown with the benefit of (significant) winter heating. This has recently been re-identified as P. chrysotricha
but the one in this picture is already dead, and I am unlikely to re-visit the species.
The Flora of China records its distribution as Yunnan where it grows on steep cliffs or rocks in valleys at altitudes of 1,600 to 2,200m.
