Philodendron 'Xanadu'

26th September 2008

A fabulous little plant that was raised by Veronica and Barry Winterbourn in Australia from a batch of Philodendron selloum seed. It was originally protected by a Plant Patent, but this has now expired.
Much more compact than P.selloum , it has been reported that it is just as cold tolerant, and it has become very popular in 'exotic' circles.
For the benefit of conventional humans, it also makes a fantastic house plant.
This is not my plant, which is a wee little thing in a five inch pot, this one is growing in the greenhouse at Wisley.

Unfortunately this is my plant, which has demonstrated quite conclusively that it isn't as cold tolerant as (they stood side by side and the latter was undamaged).
