A small growing species that makes a rather rounded shrub. The new growth is bronzed, without the striking colour of some of the species.
In its native Japan it is said to reach a height of 10ft. I have seen plants of a similar size in the UK but they had become ungainly shrubs and lost the compact charm
of younger specimens.
