Pinguicula crystallina ssp crystallina
4th August 2007
Not a species that I grow, it appears here just for the sake of completeness and because I have a picture!
The type subspecies is distinguished from P. crystallina ssp. hirtiflora by the upper lobes of the corolla, which are much smaller than the lip in P. crystallina ssp. crystallina,
and more or less equal to it in P. crystallina ssp. hirtiflora.
P. crystallina ssp. hirtiflora has a more easterly distribution, ocurring in a few locations in southern Turkey and just hanging on in the Troodos mountains in Cyprus.
