The flowers form while the plant is in winter rosette and then emerge as soon as there is enough warmth for growth to restart. The species was discovered by Dr Alfred Lau
at Sierra Mixe, Oaxaca, Mexico. All the plants in cultivation derive from Lau's seed collection at this location. Vibrant pink flowers.
