P. San Pedro x P. Egmont, raised by Ian Butterfield and registered in 1998. A significant step on the path to orange and red hybrids. When I first started to grow Pleione I grew P. Shantung 'Silver Anniversary' a pink and white selection of the grex, because I couldn't afford the pale yellow 'Ducat'. Everything changes, yellow cultivars are more readily available and recently I have seen the most beautiful pure orange selections among new hybrids. Nothing changes, I can't afford them yet! Fortunately I have 'Cape Robin' to keep me happy for a few years. |
