The Soft shield fern tolerates shade well. Brownish scales along the stems make it look as though it needs vacuuming (and that is not a need I am very sensitive to),
so if you plant it under a shady tree, it will always look rather neglected. It is a native species that turns up by itelf in the garden from time to time. I have tried moving them together to form a group but they do not appreciate my intervention. |
