Polygonatum falcatum 'Variegatum'

6th May 2006 6th May 2006
Dark stems, the leaves have a thin white margin, most obvious at the end of the leaves.
Polygonatum falcatum has been very confused in cultivation, though plants of the real thing seem to be appearing in the west now, from a number of sources. This pretty variegated plant is an imposter, and should really be identified as Polygonatum odoratum var pluriflorum 'Variegatum'.
If you order P.falcatum 'Variegatum' from a nursery, this is what you will get!
