A very spectacular species from Vietnam, named in 1986. The boundaries between this species, P. huanumP. kingianum still seem to be uncertain.
I was given a division by a friend, but the plant is derived from a collection by Tom Hudson. It flowers a month earlier in the greenhouse than it does in the (cooler) Hedychium house. I have tried planting a division outside but it was very rapidly eaten by slugs. I am hoping that the rootstock has persisted. |
