Primula allionii 'Chivalry'

29th March 2018 11th March 2020 3rd March 2022
A good clean pink cultivar. The National Primula and Auricula society say that it was raised by David Hadfield (show reports). I got it from Aberconwy Nursery and they say:

"Distinct and beautiful P. allionii with almost concolourous light violet flowers on a neat cushion. Feb/Mar. Alpine house or frame in gritty mixture. Water from beneath."

Dr A. J. Marcham includes a desription in his article on European Primulas in the Bulletin of the Alpine Garden Society:

"'Chivalry' (h) [D. Hadfield]. typical of the 'Heraldic series'. Small orchid-pink flowers borne in profusion. A frequent winner at early shows."
