Primula allionii 'Tranquility'

Archive entry 18.02.18

A pale lilac cultivar that has done well here.
In an article in the Bulletin of the Alpine Garden Society, Margaret Earle says:

"Raised at Hartside Nursery. Cobalt violet 634/3. Pin eyed. A medium sized flower with a small white eye. The colour fades to rose purple 533. The leaf margins are not toothed. A fitting choice of name, the pale violet being a particularly restful shade."

One of three sister seedlings named and raised at Hartside Nursery (the other two being 'Hartside' and 'Pennine Pink').

Philip Bankhead says on the Penine Primulas website:

"The neat mounds of foliage are covered with wavy edged pale lavender pink white eyed flowers in February / March depending on season. Cold glasshouse culture is required for this alpine. This variety is vigorous and easy to grow.
